Short description of error
Default Cube is black on Mac(intel) in Blender 3.2 (material preview and render mode)
Flipping the normals will result in a normal display.
Precisely, it's not just default cube, but also all objects
The problem does not occur in 3.1.
Also, it does not seem to reproduce on Windows/Geforce 2080Ti.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

Thanks for the report. I'm seeing them dark only in Cycles render mode (3.3, 906b9f55af)
which is due to overlapping cube faces: #96475 (Overlapping geometry shows black faces on Cycles Blender 3.1 (Ray Tracing Precision))
This bug report is probably related to #97617 (Regression: Missing light on macOS in recent versions)
@TK007, can you check again with factory settings?: {nav File > Defaults > Load Factory Settings}

Graphics card : AMD Radeon(TM) 535 ATI Technologies .```

I forgot to mention that the render engine I use is EEVEE but I recently found that this strange lighting bug ocuurs in Cycles too.

I loaded Factory Setting and only find the same result. However, strangely, the bug seems to be remedied in Cycles(not in EEVEE)

I think that I experience the same problem. Though flipping normals doesn't help for me.

Some additional information.

  • EEVEE only, cycles works fine
  • Only some shader nodes causes this, e.g. principled BSDF, mix shader, add shader. Others e.g. diffuse, glass works fine
  • I see the same thing in 3.2 and 3.3, goes back at least to 3.3 alpha 08a39d32a9
  • Linux version

@evk hi, this doesn't seem related to this report. Could you please open separate report(s) for that?
@TK007, I'm not able to repro on Windows (as said in last comment).
Perhaps MAC only this issue is? I'll ask other triagers to test

Both me and Jeroen can confirm the issue on Mac with Intel GPU.

So confirming the report, and setting priority high as it is a regression since 3.1 and something we definitely want to be addressed before 3.2 is out.

Currently bisecting the issue. Doesn't seem to be a recent issue.

First failing commit is 80859a6cb2

Only able to reproduce on MacOS, not on Linux.

Same here.
Linux 16.04 : 3.1 is fine.

But 3.2.x (stable) and above and 3.3 alpha: Eevee is dark on render view, Cycles is fine (except material view is dark)

On the same PC, booting to another Linux 22.04 or Windows 11: They all working fine.
