Delete Branch "%!s()"
Deleting a branch is permanent. Although the deleted branch may continue to exist for a short time before it actually gets removed, it CANNOT be undone in most cases. Continue?
Did this get removed in the latest version? Running Blender 4.2.1 and ctrl-s was doing a vanilla save instead of bringing up the pie menu. I ended up rolling back to an older version of the add-on.
I hope it's not gone for good because seeing the menu reminds to do incremental saves sometimes.
Hi @coyohti
Press CTRL+S then move your cursor a bit, the pie menu will open.
Yep, this pie was reorganized and is currently set to only open on mouse drag. Will close this issue but feel free to let me know what you think about the changes. It's still very much open to feedback.
@Mets CTRL + S feels really odd as a key combination to hold down, as it is a one-press operation in essentially all desktop applications of the past decades, so the fact that the previous version brought up the menu upon key press was quite consistent with that.
I would also recommend to reconsider this choice of having to hold the combination and having to move the mouse to bring up the menu for the following reason: If you wanted to use Recover -> Revert, but accidentally pressed but not held CTRL + S, this will overwrite the current save, making Revert impossible, i.e. the user saved an undesired state of the file. Since CTRL + S is so ingrained as something that you would not hold, I see this change as something that greatly increases the chance of making mistakes.
For all other key combinations, I wouldn't argue as much, but saving a file is a highly destructive operation in the sense that all previous state beyond undo history is lost when overwriting an old save.
If you want to keep vanilla CTRL + S, how about moving the pie menu to CTRL + SHIFT + S?
This is what I ran into when I tried the new version again (and again, switched back). The quick CTRL-S is really ingrained as muscle memory. I could get used to CTRL-SHIFT-S as an option though - the best of both worlds!
Nail on the head. That's the motivation behind the change. For people who wanted to start using the add-on, Blender became the one and only software on their computer where they're able to press Ctrl+S and not have their file saved, but instead be greeted by a pop-up menu.
I know for existing users who have gotten used to it this may be an annoyance, so I'm adding the option to be able to toggle "Only On Drag" behaviour for each pie menu. But I don't currently see a reason to not have this be the default experience for people who want to start using the add-on for the first time.
Coming soon:
As for unintentionally saving your files, Blender has .blend1 files to cover that problem, but considering Ctrl+S saving your file is hardly an unexpected behaviour, I definitely see this as a skill issue.
@coyohti You can change the shortcut to anything you want in the add-on's preferences. (Look under the "Add-ons" tab instead of under "Get Extensions".)
