System Information
Operating System(s):
NixOS (manager and worker)
MacOS (blender client)
Flamenco Version
Is Broken: 3.5
Worked OK: 3.5
Working fine when rendering a basic cube.
I only get the following error when trying to render a more complex scene, for example attached.
The error:
Error performing BAT pack: Unexpected exception transferring files to Shaman: 'latin-1' codec can't encode character '\u014d' in position 41: ordinal not in range(256)
I get this error after submitting the following file to flamenco from blender.
Is there anything I could test to give you more information?
From what I can understand, that error is something to do with storing characters in the database that aren't valid for that encoding. Maybe shaman does some encoding?
Apparently that character is a ō, I searched the outliner and couldn't see any data with that character.
This is a bit weird, that Flamenco 3.5 is both broken and working well. Note that these fields are about the issue you're reporting. The fact that version 3.5 can work well is a given, because otherwise it would never have been released ;-)
Also: which version of Blender are you using?
I can reproduce the issue, thanks for the example file.
Hey! Glad to hear you can reproduce it.
Yea sorry about the version! Maybe I should have written N/A.
I am on Blender Version 4.2.0 (4.2.0 2024-07-16).
Please give Flamenco 3.6-alpha4 a test, that should fix this issue. You can download it from https://flamenco.blender.org/download/#go-experimental
It's rendering! So closing this one is correct :)
But now I am encoutering another issue: #104339
Wanted to say thanks for you hard work and for getting back to me so quickly. I'm running visuals at a music festival over new years - we are going to be doing some new 3d focused workflows and it will be very handy to be able to set up some computers to do rendering in the few days we have before showtime.
