Rare artifacts and shadows in EEVEE

The artifacts look essentially the same as in blender/blender#124911.

Seems like an issue with specific amd graphic units.

Crash when switching to wireframe display

Can confirm. When a object has no faces and a subdiv modifier, then switching to wireframe mode will crash blender 4.2, but not 4.1. See attached .blend file, where the cube got its faces removed.

Yep, can confirm for cycles. Tested with blender 4.1.1 and 4.2 release candidate, both affected. Not happening with eevee.

Eeevee next is the default in blender 4.2+. You don't have to turn on anything as the old eevee renderer got replaced with the new one.
