* Popup menus now remember the last clicked item again.
* Modifier and File Format menus are now organized in multiple
columns with categories.
* Hook, explode, uv project modifiers have all their buttons
again with the relevant operators implemented.
* Modifiers that can't be added by the user, or don't work on
curves for example, are not in the menu anymore.
* Fix search menu overlapping buttons when near the bottom of
the screen.
* Fix uv layers search menu not working in some modifiers.
* Cleanup popup menu code a bit, layout engine is used in more
cases now instead of ugly position calculation code.
* Added Context access to RNA_property_as_string. This is needed for doing a Python call to the object mode set operator, which has a dynamic enum property that needs context.
* Disable shaded mode for now, it cause too many crashes combined
with preview render, will be fixed properly later.
* Make 3d view toolbar region a bit wider. Ideally this would not
be needed, but the sculpt/paint buttons just don't fit otherwise.
* Revert change to icon/text spacing in buttons, it breaks text
editing and clipping. Will properly fix this later so changing
the spacing can be done centrally.
* Fix for grease pencil simplify stroke python error. Now button
is hidden (as in 2.4), but still available through outliner.
* Fix for memory leak in UI code, when using ctrl+Q menu.
* Fix submenu > icon being drawn on some buttons where it was not
needed.
you can copy operator strings from buttons or the reporting interface and run them in the console.
- Ctrl+C over an operator button copies its python string to the clipboard.
- Paste in the console (1 line only for now).
- operators run from python no longer require all arguments.
Operator goodies!
--- Macro operators
Operators now can consist of multiple operators. Such a macro operator
is identical and behaves identical to other opererators. Macros can
also be constructed of macros even! Currently only hardcoded macros are
implemented, this to solve combined operators such as 'add duplicate' or
'extrude' (both want a transform appended).
Usage is simple:
- WM_operatortype_append_macro() : add new operatortype, name, flags
- WM_operatortype_macro_define() : add existing operator to macro
(Note: macro_define will also allow properties to be set, doesnt work
right now)
On converting the macro wmOperatorType to a real operator, it makes a
list of all operators, and the standard macro callbacks (exec, invoke,
modal, poll) just will use all.
Important note; switching to a modal operator only works as last in the
chain now!
Macros implemented for duplicate, extrude and rip. Tool menu works fine
for it, also the redo hotkey F4 works properly.
--- Operator redo fix
The operators use the undo system to switch back, but this could give
errors if other actions added undo pushes (buttons, outliner). Now the
redo for operator searches back for the correct undo level.
This fixes issues with many redos.
Note for brecht: removed the ED_undo_push for buttons... it was called
on *every* button now, which is probably too much? For example, using
the 'toolbar' redo also caused this...
* small tweak for tab completion of directory: make TEX button interactive again
Note1: only TAB key triggers update (see ui_do_but_textedit, line 1599)
* Text editing in buttons now hides the label, to give more space.
* Tweak slider buttons text clipping, happened a bit too early.
* Move editing text closer to the left, because the < > buttons
are not visible then anyway.
First step towards keymap editor!
Before getting too excited:
- doesn't save yet
- no rna properties can be defined
- no insert/remove keymap options yet
- no option yet to set 'key press/release'
But what does work;
- Keymap list is in outliner, new category
(Keymaps are listed in order as being created now)
- enable/disable a keymap entry: click on dot icon
- it displays python api names for ops
- browse new operator for keymap (menu button)
- set keymap to use other keys, mouse or tweak events
- four modifier key options
I first intent to test it all well, there are still
quite some modal map conflicts (like border select) and
there's problems assigning items to tweaks
Another issue is that a visual editor for keymaps might be
quite hard to use... the amount of data and options is just not
so fun for a buttons menu. There are ways to improve this though.
Maybe do this via a script?
Outliner: brought back to near full functioning:
- proper operators, like for open/close items, exec operations
(note: select is still same operator as activate, should
become modal ops later)
- rename works again (ctrl+click)
- proper notifiers for redraws
- select / extend select works again
- editmode in/out works again
- enter key opens/closes again
- right mouse operations work again
Didn't do:
- options for Sequence strips
- signals to change button views on clicks
- error/warning messages
UI:
- added new uiButSetRenameFunc(), which passes on the old name
- added uiButActiveOnly(), which ensures a button gets created in
active state, and gets removed when used. Needed for editing
names in outliner.
Andrea: check outliner.c for uiButActiveOnly(), very easy to use!
Also:
- Added posemode operator, CTRL+TAB tied to it.
* List template visual changes. Items now look different,
and it expands to size 5 as more items are added.
* Added LISTROW and LISTBOX elements. The former is like
a typical ROW button, but looks diffrent. The latter
looks like a BOUNDBOX, and has no extra features yet.
* Fix some glColor3ubv warnings with casting, did not find
a nicer way.
* tweak for autocomplete, only update live if live_update and TAB key is hit. (Brecht, please check if it's ok, otherwise will revert and we'll find another way)
* adding slash at the end of directory to allow for faster autocomplete
* bugfix: directory name buton had wrong length
* bugfix: adding back adding the region on read of old files
* tweak: buttons for increment/decrement file number now have icons and size adjusted to UI_UNIT_X/UI_UNIT_Y
* Text window font size now supports full range 8-32, instead of
just 12 and 15. I added BLF_fixed_width to get the character
width of a fixed size font.
* Buttons do undo push on change again.
* Animated/Keyframe/Driver colors are now themable, with blend
value to blend with original color. Set this to 0.5 now to
give colors less constrast.
* Fix tooltip popping up with RMB menu open, and missing redraw.
* Autokeyframe now works for buttons.
* Driver expressions can be edited in place in a button now.
(still some refresh issues).
* Also made python driver default for the Add Driver function
in the RMB button. This way you don't have to open a Graph
editor if you just want to type an expression. Also, the
default expression then is the current value.
* Tooltips now show some extra info, not sure what is good to
have, but currently I added:
* Shortcut key for operator buttons.
* Python struct & property name for RNA buttons.
* Expression for driven values.
* Value for text/search/pointer buttons.
* directory button enabled again, c code for now, can later become nicer operator
* filename button enabled (pattern match for selection)
* RNA completed (title, file and directory)
* some unused code removal.
* Pass on mouse location on window leave/enter too, fixing some
issues with button highlights and tooltips.
* When a modal operator runs, grab the mouse cursor so that for
example transform still works when you move your mouse outside
of the window, previously it would just stop then. This is
automatic now for all modal ops, perhaps not always needed?
* Fix for a trailing button highlight issue.
Image Window
* Unpack operator now works.
* Some small layout code tweaks.
Info Window Header
* Moved to python UI code.
* template_running_jobs, template_operator_search added.
* Ported external data operators: pack/unpack all, make
paths relative/absolute, find/report missing files.
Also
* Report RPT_INFO too, not only warnings and errors.
* Run UI handle functions after RNA and Operators.
* Rename particle system add/remove operators, to not
include "slot", that's only there for materials because
that's what they are called now in RNA.
Menu usage: enabled arrow-key based browsing, especially for open and
close sublevels. Only thing missing is to prevent sublevel to open
on creating menu (like SHIFT+A now), this is design conflict in code.
(It sends fake mouse move events causing it)
Implementation note; the 'auto open sublevel' feature gets triggered
with new state var, that checks if mouse was used or not.
Also: on render in editmode, editmode result gets stored, as usual for 2.4x.
* Search popup + autocomplete for bones, vertex groups, etc. This
is done with layout.item_pointerR, specifying an RNA collection to
take the items from. Used by constraints and modifiers.
* Some tests with the List template, ignore those for now..
- Added ND_SHADING notifier on linking materials, so it gives
refreshes in UI
- Removed reduntant debug prints
Crucial fixes in other code while checking warnings;
- Particle buttons were assigned to short, whilst data was int
- Filesel border select used float rect API, on an int rect.
* Added SCROLL button type, use like a NUMSLI basically, with
a1 used to define the scroller size.
* Add scroll and toggle colors to the Theme (toggle was set to
draw like radio in a recent commit, but it's the intention
these look different).
* Added rudimentary list template, used for object material
slots, this is WIP though.
* In popup menu, split text with line breaks over multiple
lines, makes python errors display slightly nicer.
Medium sized Color Picker; consisting of number sliders, row buttons to
select rgb/hsv/hex, HS circle and V slider. It opens persistant, like
old picker.
This one opens default, other two can be accessed with ALT or SHIFT click.
On todo;
- eyedropper tool back
- method for click-drag to make mini picker appear
Note for UI coders (brecht :), added a UI_HIDDEN flag in buttons, to
support switching buttons in menus. Hidden buttons are not activated nor
drawn.
Logic editing back!
Test screenie:
http://download.blender.org/institute/rt9.jpg
I gave the buttons a bit more width, added nicer linkline draw.
Not working yet:
- theme colors for sensor/actuator types (was old button colors)
- moving sensors up/down (used bad pupmenu... better is icons like
used for modifiers)
- Linkline mouse-over select. Currently deleting a link goes by
drawing the same line again.
Needs to be fully tested for functionality too, leave that to the GE
department. :)
I noted there's bad button hacking with reading button values,
like check_state_mask(). uiBut structure was not meant to be exported
outside of interface module.
Quick Color picker alternative!
- only a color circle + value slider
- exits immediate after use, or slight mouse move outside picker
- use scrollwheel to change HSV 'value'. Also works while picking.
- added nicer AA'ed cursor in picker
- All color swatches change 'value' on ALT+Wheel mouse-over
Old picker is still there, under SHIFT+click on swatch. Needs
evaluation... part of UI keymap? Per button type? Or divide
picker in left/right? Or just have all those old picker buttons
in another panel... I'm not to fond of this giant old popup.
Added search-browse to the Python ID template. Also added icon/button
for 'Add new'. (Note, we need icon for it).
Also fixed bug in search menu closing too quick on mouse-release, when
mouse was close to bottom of menu button.
And removed annoying warning if ID pointer was zero.
First version of search-based ID browsing. Now only in use for the
top bar screen/scene browse. The python buttons will follow.
Also made search button colors match the theme colors from menu back.
Todos for browse-search:
- "Add new" will disappear, and become a separate icon button in the
row of widgets (like X, delete).
- Drawing the preview icons in menu
- Make search menu dynamic, with configurable number of items? And/or
multi-collumn... for now it's static
- Search menu should popup with last active ID visible and selected
Several usablity tweaks:
- Search menu allows ScrollWheel to view items
- Tooltip on button on bottom of window showed wrong
- Tooltips were popping up while draggin (MMB) or scrolling
(wheel). Now they stay away.
- Stolen from Gimp (blame venomgfx for hint!): ScrollWheel allows
to go over menu items and use number buttons, only on mouse-over.
Note for devs: the WM_event_add_mousemove() call (to add a fake
event to bring UI back alive after view changes) now works much
more reliably. It ensures the mouse move is only handled after all
notifiers/redraws were done.
Search menu:
- Made nicer drawing for popup version of search. It now uses
entire backdrop like pulldowns.
Search boxes for text buttons will use different style still;
if we use this option all over it shouldn't look too intrusive.
- Search menu allows scroll, to view all items. It doesn't cycle
anymore.
- Click outside search menu now cancels
- If a match is in search button, it highlights it. This also
allows ALT+CTRL+F - Enter to redo last op.
- Search popup draws higher when no no space below. No order
flipping!
Further work on new "text search" button.
- Now allows to browse items (mouse, arrow key)
- Assigns active value
- Uses different backdrop to distinguish from popup menus
- Cleaned API for it, so it can be used nicely generic
Also added a search menu, which shows all currently working
operators: CTRL+ALT+F. (mind the looks, it needs some tweaks!)
To make a menu activating a button I've added a new event...
could use some tweaks.
Important note: the callback to pass on "old string" for text
button (bone rename) couldn't work yet, added first code for new
callback, but has to be worked on further. When bone rename gets
added it can be tested.
* Make modifier and constraint templates use left/right alignment for
buttons in the header.
* Added mdef bind operator as an example of how to use local context
for a modifier, and add some code I forgot to commit last time to
make this system actually work.
Part one of new text button type: SEARCH_MENU
This opens a popup showing all matches for a typed string, nice
for object names, materials, operators, and so on.
Warning: Currently menu doesn't function yet! Only draws choices.
As test I've added an operator search button in top bar. It only
shows operators that can be used in this context now. Also that
is part of the WIP, tomorrow more fun :)
* Added Constraints template and Add Constraint operator.
* Added toggle=True/False parameter to uiItemR, to get a
toggle button (actual button) rather than an "option"
button (checkbox)
* Added OPTION/OPTIONN button type, to distinguish with
TOG/TOGN.
RNA:
* Make all modifier pointers editable, including correct updates.
* Added notifiers and updates to constraints.
* Fix a stack corruption, pointed out by Andrea, and potentially
causing crashes.
Interface draw fixes:
- Red cursor for text edit widget was in wrong location
- Selection for text edit widget too
- Number slider text edit was too far too the left
- Number slider 'fill' was drawing outside boundaries.
(Matt: note I just interpolated rounding value :)
* template_modifier creates the modifier box, and returns a layout
to put the buttons in.
* Only the armature modifier is now done with python code, all other
modifiers use C code. To convert a modifier to python, remove the
corresponding C code and create a function in DATA_PT_modifiers.
* Some modifiers still require some RNA work to get it working well,
especially to make pointers editable. Mostly that is a matter of
defining an own _set callback and put some of the modifier C code
into it.
* Still various buttons that don't work, like for hooks or mesh
deform binding.
* Fix for crashing decimate modifier (still disabled).
* Removed UI_BUT_NO_HILITE, HMENU.
* Make uiLayoutBox work with align.
Node editor:
- Crash could occur on ALT+LMB remove link lines (read free'd mem)
- Button labels were handled as full buttons, disabling node usage
quite a lot, like drag, select, or create links.
(Caused by making all node labels buttons)
Brecht: old UI_NO_HILITE can be depricated, it was for bad overdraw
issues. I guess it's OK to not handle Label buttons at all...
- Made Normal (Sphere) button draw with nice AA
(check in node editor)
- Bugfix in alignment code, collumns were not drawing OK
- Picker buttons draw swatches again, and made them work.
* Fix buttons jumping around when resizing and zoom. Part of this was
adding a tiny a 0.001f offset in UI_view2d_view_ortho, otherwise the
rounding is unpredictable (used to be 0.375f, but that was disabled).
* Fix various issues with zooming, panning panels. V2D_LOCKOFS_X/Y is
now taken into account in more places in the view2d code, to avoid
zooming into the center or panning out of the view.
* Remove "Free" align mode in buttons window (it's not really useful).
* View3D/Graph/Image editors now use the same PanelType system as the
buttons window, means some deprecated panel code could be removed.
* Some small visual tweaks for panels.
* View 2D Reset operator (Home key), to reset zoom and panning for panels.
* Added argument to set number buttons as sliders (slider=True for itemR).
* Ignore labels for button alignment (doesn't look right).
* Fix some use of context.main in py scripts, should get data from active
object instead.
* Fix autotexspace -> auto_texspace in py script.
* Buttons are now created first, and after that the layout is computed.
This means the layout engine now works at button level, and makes it
easier to write templates. Otherwise you had to store all info and
create the buttons later.
* Added interface_templates.c as a separate file to put templates in.
These can contain regular buttons, and can be put in a Free layout,
which means you can specify manual coordinates, but still get nested
correct inside other layouts.
* API was changed to allow better nesting. Previously items were added
in the last added layout specifier, i.e. one level up in the layout
hierarchy. This doesn't work well in always, so now when creating things
like rows or columns it always returns a layout which you have to add
the items in. All py scripts were updated to follow this.
* Computing the layout now goes in two passes, first estimating the
required width/height of all nested layouts, and then in the second
pass using the results of that to decide on the actual locations.
* Enum and array buttons now follow the direction of the layout, i.e.
they are vertical or horizontal depending if they are in a column or row.
* Color properties now get a color picker, and only get the additional
RGB sliders with Expand=True.
* File/directory string properties now get a button next to them for
opening the file browse, though this is not implemented yet.
* Layout items can now be aligned, set align=True when creating a column,
row, etc.
* Buttons now get a minimum width of one icon (avoids squashing icon
buttons).
* Moved some more space variables into Style.
* Made separator item work horizontal & vertical.
* Add colon (:) automatic for int/float/enum/string.
* Added space variables to uiStyle and use them in the
layout engine.
* Added initial World buttons by Thomas Dinges, thanks!
* Added some code for modifiers in the Object Data context.
This will become a template though.
* Use a common poll() callback in the scripts to reduce code.
Various ui fixes:
- panel drawing now correctly follows scaled view
- made imagewindow buttons using TH_PANEL color back (was too dark)
- click on open/close panel was wrong
- menu items disabling now draws correct
- curve/hsv widgets didn't draw on right locations
- numsliders have nicer interior slider decoration
- new type TOGBUT to enforce old style toggle button (not new type
'option button' with checkmark
- (temp) disabled live updating while using Curve widget, was
too slow to be fun. Needs general solution :)
* Template slots are no longer specified per item, but are
a state now, set with uiTemplateSlot.
* Some renaming of Layout functions for consistency.
* Fix for roundbox in stack template, now is always behind
the other buttons.
* Improved python API for layout:
http://www.pasteall.org/5008/python
Grand cleanup:
- removal of FTF and ftfont dir
- removal of text.c which wrapped it
- wrapped old text drawing code temporarily, need to decide how 'style'
will behave per editor when you draw strings outside interface code....
wouldn't be very useful to set fonts locally all over?
Drivers can now be Added/Removed from buttons using the D/Alt-D hotkeys, and also through the menu. Driver settings (i.e. the target) are not set by default. To set those, go to the Graph Editor (see notes).
Notes:
* Buildsystem maintainers - I've added a new file "editors/animation/drivers.c"
* Widget colours for the driven-setting indications are needed
* To see the new drivers, go into Graph Editor -> "Drivers" mode. Currently, there's a little bug there which prevents editing of the new drivers.
