Blender crashes when trying to render with HIP RT #109417
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.22621-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT ATI Technologies Inc. 4.5.0 Core Profile Context 22.40.51.06.230425
Broken: version: 3.6.0, branch: blender-v3.6-release, commit date: 2023-06-27 08:08, hash:
Short description of error
Blender crashes right after building scene when trying to render. Rendering works great without HIP RT. It is reported as Out of Memory but i have 32Go of ram, without any restrictions on blender and only used at 22%. I have the crash report if needed.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
- Turn on HIP in both CPU and GPU render with HIP RT on too.
- Try to render image. Crashes with RT on and render properly with RT off
@ROZGHON-ARTUR You can remove the nodes and just put a solid color as a background, I have just tested and it still crashes, even with a solid background
Hi @MoreOwO . We have a hard time reproducing this here. Can you check with the just updated 3.6.1 and the latest AMD drivers?
I downloaded the one advertised to be "HIP RT compatible", i'll try to update it. I will keep you updated
Even with the latest AMD Drivers and the latest version of Blender. I've also tried to repair blender (as I have it through steam, but the only broken file didn't fix a thing). Is there something more I can do to help you ?
For the time being, please use the GPU device only. There was a bug in our code that didn't properly handle multi device scenario. We have fixed the issue and will submit the fix later.
