Short description of error
Grease Pencil is not the same as before.
When I press down to draw something with the pen, it won't show up- until after I lift my pen up from the tablet and then it shows what I drew.
This is bad because I can't draw if I can't see what mark I made. It only shows up after and ruins the workflow.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

open Blender 3.6.1.
click: 2d animation to start.
click pen as the grease pencil drawing tool.
press down to draw a shape.

Nothing shows up as I press down on the canvas.

lift the pen off the tablet

then I see what I 'drew'.
A horrible squiggle line because I cannot see what I'm drawing as I'm drawing.
I did not have this problem with the past version of blender that I had: Blender 3.3.1.

Any differences after changing the tablet API?: Edit > preferences > Input > Tablet > Tablet API

Thanks. Could you try factory reset since the problem also trigger with mouse: File > Default > Load Factory Settings

Uninstall tablet drivers, see if that helps.

it only happens when I use stroke. for the fill it works perfectly fine.

I did the reset factory settings. same problem. So are you able to draw with stroke pen?

I think I'm just going to download an older version of Blender so that I can use grease pencil. How do I save the old version without it being overwritten by the new version that I have?

You want to open file from older versions instead of newer installed version?
In that case, change the default app from: Windows Settings > Apps > Default apps
or open blender version : Edit > Preferences > Systems > Operating System settings > make default/register

It didn't work when I tried those things.

It works when I opened up a project I was working on in Blender 3.6.1.
Ok I did: Edit > Preferences > Systems > Operating System settings > make default/register and now it works, thanks! grease pencil works perfectly fine. 👍

Good to know. But this is just a workaround to run files in older versions.
Closing this report would be inappropriate since the problem is still not resolved on your system in 3.6

Update: I did another test with Blender 3.4.1, as well as with Blender 3.5 Alpha.

It seems that the said problem only occurs with AMD drivers prior to version 22.11.2 (AMD software: Adrenalin Edition 22.11.2).
With the latest AMD drivers, everything works as expected again. (At least in my case.)

(here we seem to have tested driver 22.20.46.08.230630 -- which seems above? but I am always confused about AMD driver version numbers...)
