System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.22621-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT ATI Technologies Inc. 4.5.0 Core Profile Context 23.7.1.230626
Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.6.1, branch: blender-v3.6-release, commit date: 2023-07-17 12:50, hash:
8bda729ef4dc
Worked: N/a
Short description of error
When my render engine is set to cycles and device is set to GPU Computer (with HIP and my 7900 XT selected), if I look at an object with a material applied in either viewport shading or as a rendered image the model will appear black and shiny or occasionally will just show as a flat blue colour.
This issue does not occur when using the CPU as the device instead and also did not begin to occur until a few days ago (prior to which it was working fine).
I've checked the same blender file on a laptop with a 3060 GPU which worked correctly so I don't think the file itself is corrupted.
I have also checked multiple blend files, some of which work fine, others do not, one file has some things working and other things broken (I will attach it to this bug report)
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Additional
IncorrectRender.png was rendered using GPU
CorrectRender.png was rendered using CPU
I will be happy to provide anything else needed to figure this out, thanks!
Hi, thanks for the report. Textures are missing from file. Could pack them in file and reupload here?:
File > External Data > Pack Resources
-> save fileI do observe the dark surface but that's due to ray tracing precision: #96475
Sorry, didn't meant to close that.
Here's an updated version of the file with the resources packed, but can't seem to upload it, I keep getting errors.
Is there some other way I can send it?
yes, uou can upload the file on drive and share link with us.
I'd suggest to remove other objects/textures and only keep problematic data
Could be related to #108099
Any updates here?
No activity for more than a week. As per the tracker policy we assume the issue is gone and can be closed.
Thanks again for the report. If the problem persists please open a new report with the required information.
