System Information
Operating system: Ubuntu 23.04
Graphics card: Intel UHD 620
Blender Version
Broken: 3.6.2 2023-08-16
Worked: None
Short description of error
When opening Blender(first or other times) and choosing general then moving the cube in multiple directions, Blender freezes
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
I also tried with
./blender --debug --debug-gpu
and also tried to check the crash files, but in both cases(command and file) none was reported, the debug command returned no error beside this(on startup, but blender was usable before applying the steps to trigger the error):
And the crash folder was created but was empty from any files, including hidden ones.
Does your whole system freeze? Or it's just blender? If just blender could you try latest 4.0 build and see if it's any different?
Also, please upload your system info file, you can save it with
Help > Save System Info
. Thanks! It's likely one of the old issue with UHD620/630 with linux. It appears to be that the frequency governor could bug out. There are limited information on archwiki stating the similar thing. It took me some digging, but can't seem to find a definitive solution since the bug is not 100% reproducible. Sometimes it works just fine for a long time but some times it hangs the whole system a few seconds into work.
Sorry for the delay.
Please find attached the file.
And yes that's exactly what's happening, only blender freezes though, not the whole system. It was freezing every time I was doing that action, and now nothing. However I noticed that it stopped after I worked on a small project without doing the trigger(the move tool), and now I'm able to use the move tool without issues, on both 3.6 and 3.5.
Unfortunately I'm not sure if this is easily fixable, it's likely a mesa bug since forever. My surface pro 6 (UHD620) also had this from time to time and not limited to blender.
This is essentially the same as #80458, #108875, #112880, and maybe #107642, mostly observed on UHD620/630 as far as I can tell.
Does this still happen in 4.1?
I'll check... It's really a bug in Mesa driver, previous reports didn't indicate it's been resolved.
