This isn't really my area of expertise, but it seems to follow other similar cases and does fix the leak indeed. However, wouldn't mind if Sybren looks into the patch as well.

It also probably good idea to check if it needs to land blender-v3.5-release branch as well. I am not sure if the commit happened before or after branching-off.
