In certain cases bones can disappear in pose mode. The cause was
that the alpha channel was not set in all cases and might use uninitialized
memory as alpha value.

Hi @Jeroen-Bakker & @dr.sybren,

Thank you for working on this (and the bone libraries, they're awesome).

I can confirm the bug is fixed on the test file I uploaded in my ticket but I'm afraid there's another issue elsewhere (cf.file and video below). As you can see the bug can also transfer to edit mode (tested on build f6c52849b5).

Should I reopen the ticket ?

@LeGuymelef I see in your video different results, but due to that I am not an animator it is hard for me to extract from your video/file what would be the expected results.

If I understand correctly the stick bones should always be visible? In the debugger I see a similar issue when drawing these stick bones.

@Jeroen-Bakker, I'll try to explain it better.

At second 8 in the video I display the "Layer 2" bone collection which makes some purple bones appear. Those bones are not part of "Layer 2" and are actually in the collection called "Outfit A" which was visible from the beginning. You can see that disabling the "Layer 2" doesn't affect the purple bones.

Now back to the beginning of the video, those purple bones are shown in object mode (which is normal because "Outfit A" is visible), but they disappear as soon as I go into pose mode. Also on second 3, I go into edit mode and all bones disappear.

This should not happen, bones present in "Outfit A" should be visible in all modes since the collection is set to be visible. All bones disappearing in edit mode is also really not normal, it should display all the bones that are visible in object mode.

Once I show the collection "Layer 2" at second 8 (and then hide it again), the bug disappears and all bones are displayed correctly, whether in object, pose or edit mode.

To reproduce this, you can download the test file and go into pose mode and/or edit mode. Once you show the "Layer 2" collection, bones shoud reappear but this is not normal as "Layer 2" doesn't contain the bones that reappear.

I'll add that "Layer 2" is a factor here, but in my ticket I showed it's not necessarily linked to a single collection, and seems to be more of an issue with bone colors. Removing all bone colors from "Outfit A" solves the issue.

I hope it clears things out.
