At least on Windows, leading spaces in the window title are not trimmed.
So the text would have a larger distance to the icon than usual.

The string is now always starting with a space character if saved, or a "*" if it has unsaved changes:

  str += wm->file_saved ? " " : "* ";

In my original PR it was

wm->file_saved ? "" : "*"

This is a change introduced in d6b2b5d0c5 and without comment about it so will assume it is a typo. Can't think of a reason to have any extra space there, and it is a very small space anyway.
