Delete Branch "JacquesLucke/blender:convert-curves-use-handles"
Deleting a branch is permanent. Although the deleted branch may continue to exist for a short time before it actually gets removed, it CANNOT be undone in most cases. Continue?
This adds a new
Handles
checkbox to the conversion operator that affects how the conversion works in the following cases:Bezier -> Catmull Rom / Poly / Nurbs
andCatmull Rom -> Nurbs
. If enabled, three control points are added for each original control point, otherwise only one.The images show the effect of the toggle. The top result is always the one with handles and the bottom one without.
Bezier -> Poly
Bezier -> Catmull Rom
Bezier -> Nurbs
Catmull Rom -> Nurbs

I don't have anything against this, but I'm also currently not really convinced by the motivation-- I think the PR description should at least make a case for why we should add this code and describe what the alternative workflow is for users, if there would be any.

Either change "Use" into "Take" or remove "into account"
I'm not sure if we really have an alternative workflow currently. Personally, I was quite annoyed when I convert to nurbs that it would still behave like a bezier curve for example. There isn't really a point in converting to nurbs just for it behave the same as before.
I never had to keep bezier handles in the conversion to catmull rom or poly before, but I also think it's not too bad. The goal here is to get feature parity with the old curve edit mode.
