Ok so I figured out how I got the cube to be directly linked. It involves creating an override on nested_higher, then one on nested_lower, then undoing a few times. Should I create another issue?
Actually, when I recreated it, it is Indirect. Weird. I don't know what happened the first time then. The crash still happens regardless though.
