b257acfed1 Animation Editors: Code Cleanups (for Channel Lists) Part 2
Now the mute/protect/expand/etc. toggles are drawn using UI widgets. This means that special event handling code to determine when they were clicked on is no longer needed, and also means that there can now be tooltips for these items too.

Also, added visibility toggles for ID-block expanders, which will cause all the F-Curves in the linked datablock to not get drawn. The backend filtering code to make this work will come later...

b9584607c5 Animation Editors: Code Cleanup Part 1 - Drawing
Finally started refactoring the drawing code for animation editors so that all the drawing (of the channels/names list) is done using standardised code for all the editors.

A little specialised system for this has been made, and is now used for DopeSheet and Graph Editor drawing. This should make it easier to add new channel types with less effort.

Protect/mute toggles are now always clamped to the right-hand edge of the channels list. So you can now make the list wider to view longer names fully. However, since the mouse-handling hasn't been fixed yet, this won't always work.

TODOs:
* make mouse-click handling code use this system too, simplifying things to 1-2 lines of code there. Maybe this could be made to use UI widgets instead at a later date?
* NLA still needs to be ported to this system

61178b19ea 2.5 - Anim Editor cleanups + Graph Editor Clutter Reduction
* Cleaned up some parts of the code that were unused/could be done a bit nicer

dbd5c5b8a1 2.5 - Animation Tweaks (KeyingSets/NLA)
* Insert Keyframes menu now only displays the 'active keyingset' entry when there are some KeyingSets.

* Moved the validation code for auto-blending/extend modes to NLA editor code, and included calls for this in many of the editing tools for NLA strips.

* Removed obsolete 'ID_IPO' entries from RNA-ID wrapping (these were commented out anyway).

6f0de59c55 NLA SoC: Notifier Fixes for Animation Editors
I've gone through all the Animation Editor operators, making sure they send appropriate notifiers, and that these notifiers are handled.

* Added a separate category for animation-related notifiers, since the old-style ones attached to specific datatypes only was turning out to be not too feasible.

* For now, the focus has been on making sure that all Animation Editors update when there have been any potentially suitable changes at all. Later on, we can filter these more carefully to only take the ones we really need (for optimisation purposes)

2edef129be NLA SoC: Transform Code for NLA-Strips recoded (still buggy)
Recoded the Transform code for NLA-Strips so that they can now be moved between strips and will not get truncated when they get moved into other non-moving strips.

Todos:
* The current code for moving strips between tracks is buggy (only goes up, and has a tendency to move up without being told to)
* Auto-snapping doesn't work yet...

28d371d117 NLA SoC: Assorted fixes
* Made NLA Editing functions more aware of transitions.
- A transition can only be added between a pair of action-clips. Previous, two transitions could be added next to each other, which has undefined behaviour
- Deleting a strip with transition(s) on either side will remove the transitions too. Feedback welcome on this
- The 'type' setting for NLA-Strips is no longer editable. This was dangerous as it could result in transitions with undefined behaviour (though nothing would happen).

* Menus for adding F-Modifiers now only show relevant modifiers (i.e. 'Invalid' is not included in the list, and 'Cycles' doesn't need to be shown for NLA since we've got repeat)

* Function Generator and Noise F-Modifiers now have complete GUI's. A few settings were missed during the porting process.

* F-Modifier buttons now have their source-ID's included in the RNA Pointers used. This didn't get them animateable directly, but is a step closer.

441bcaae2e NLA SoC: FModifier drawing converted to use Layout Engine
* Most of the F-Modifiers have been ported to use the layout engine + RNA for drawing their buttons now. This plays much nicer with various button-layouts.
--> As a nice demo, try adding a Noise Modifier to a NLA-strip, and change the 'size' setting to about 2 to see some effects.

* Generator and Envelope modifiers haven't been ported yet since they're quite complex (requiring more time + energy), and as such, have been made to have some temporary error prints instead. Will check on this tomorrow.

* Finished/cleaned up the RNA-wrapping of most FModifiers.

TODO's (help requested... Brecht?):
Generator modifier's UI cannot be wrapped yet using the layout engine (though I might try using the old system only), as I'm having some trouble wrapping the coefficients array for this (see rna_fcurve.c - rna_def_fmodifier_generator())

6b784a80f0 NLA SoC: F-Modifiers working on NLA Strips
* Using the Ctrl-Shift-M hotkey, F-Modifiers can be added to all the selected strips.

* F-Modifiers can also be added/tweaked from the NLA N-Key properties. The UI now uses the same code as for the graph editor ones.

The UI drawing here is currently messed up from the NLA side, since it seems combining normal layout stuff and old-style uiBlocks doesn't seem to work too well (BUT! the buttons are at least functional).
Next up, I'll need to recode the buttons panel for the Graph Editor so that all of the drawing can be migrated over to use the new layout engine.

b47605d841 NLA SoC: Separating F-Modifier UI drawing into its own file
* F-Modifier UI drawing/handling is now defined in a separate file so that it will be more suitable for inclusion into the NLA Editor's buttons.

* Started removing F-Curve dependence from the modifier drawing code, which wasn't strictly necessary

* Fixed F-Curve RNA wrapping to correctly use FPoints instead of the bulkier BPoints. Although nobody was likely to have encountered bugs here yet, this would almost certainly have contributed to some segfaults/data corruption along the track.

b4acd77526 NLA SoC: Big Commit - Restored NLA-Mapping Corrections
In TweakMode, the keyframes of the Active Action are now shown (and can be edited) in NLA-mapped time, with appropriate corrections applied when editing. This works in the DopeSheet and Graph Editors :)

To do this, got rid of the old wrappers/API-methods, replacing them with new-style ones. A few methods previously (in this branch) used only for evaluation are now used for this purpose too. As the same code is used for editing + evaluation, this should now be much better to work with.

I've only done a few brief tests now, but I think I might've muddled the invert-flags on one or two cases which I'll need to check out tomorrow. So, beware that there may be some weird and critical bugs for the next few days here...

Also, added proper license headers to new NLA files.

- testing + bugfixing due to this commit
- show range of keyframes in NLA Editor active-action line

aea9dd598c NLA SoC: DopeSheet Cleanups
* Replaced old-style menu defines with the new-style Layout Engine ones. These are now much cleaner as a result :)

* Wrapped DopeSheet and Graph Editors in RNA to allow them to use the new Layout Engine for menu drawing

* Shortened the names of operators in the DopeSheet, removing the "keyframes" prefix since that's the only real context which can operate there.

* Standardised a few names, and renamed a confusingly named operator (cfrasnap -> jump to frame)

5c21c176fa NLA SoC: Operators for 'tweaking' strip actions (TAB-Key for both)
In this commit, I've introduced the mechanism by which actions already referenced by strips used in the NLA can be edited (or 'tweaked'). To use, simply select a strip you wish to edit, and hit that TAB key to start tweaking that strip's action, and hit TAB again once you're done.

What happens when you enter 'tweak mode':
1) The action of the active strip temporarily becomes the 'active action' of the AnimData block. You are now able to edit this in one of the Animation Editors (DopeSheet/Action, Graph Editors) as per normal (i.e. sliding keyframes around, inserting keyframes, etc.). The 'action-line' will therefore get drawn immediately above the active track containing the active strip, so that it's clear that that's what we're editing.

2) All the NLA-tracks (and all the strips within them) that occur after the track that the active strip lived in get disabled while you're in tweakmode. This is equivalent to travelling back to an earlier state in a construction history stack.

3) The active NLA track also gets disabled while in tweakmode, since it would otherwise interfere with the correct functioning of the tweaking for the action of interest.

4) The 'real' active action (i.e. the one displaced by the active strip's action) gets put into temp storage, and will be restored after you exit tweakmode.

5) Any strips which also reference the action being tweaked will get highlighted in red shading to indicate that you may be making some changes to the action which you don't really want to make for the other users too.

Please note though, that this is only a rough prototype of this functionality, with some niceties still to come. i.e.:
* NLA-tracks after the active track should still get drawn above the 'tweaking action line', but perhaps with different appearance?
* Various tools will still need awareness of this to prevent corrupting operations from taking place. How to proceed is still undecided...
* When exiting tweak-mode, the strip the action came from still needs some form of syncing with the modified action... there are a few tricky issues here that will need to be solved
* Evaluation code doesn't totally take this into account yet...

33267f5858 NLA SoC: Basic selection operators
* Added click-select/left-right select and deselect all/invert all selection operators. For now, these basic operators will suffice (more advanced selection operators will be coded at a later stage).

* Fixed a few bugs in DopeSheet found while coding the relevant tools for NLA.

* Added custom border-select operator for NLA channels (since the standard one assumes negative direction channel order)

* Added new API-method for NLA strips to check if the strip occurs within a given range, since this test needed to be performed in a few places...

* Tweaked the NLA Editor View2D ranges a bit to give saner default sizing. This still isn't right yet though.

844db37559 Graph Editor: F-Curve Colouring
Now F-Curve channels in channels region are drawn with the same colour as their respective curve is drawn in the curves area. I've had to make a compromise to store such colour info in F-Curves themselves, which is not terribly ideal if the F-Curve gets reused in some way. However, for now, this will do (special tweaks can be made to make this work better though).

I've also added a colour-determination mode per curve which should in future allow more control over this. By default, all curves still use the old 'rainbow' style. The available types area:
* Old Rainbow - Colour is determined 'automatically' using a magic method which uses curve position + total curves to generate a colour.
* Auto RGB - Color is determined using the 'array index' stored in F-Curve for data-access. An unresolved issue with this is that all the curves with this will end up with exactly the same colour, leading to confusion (i.e. all location.x and scale.x properties could potentially all be the same red colour).
* Custom colour - self explanatory

Currently, there's a minor bug when loading old files where the colours don't get initialised yet. For now, just clicking in the Graph Editor after file-load will solve any of these problems.
Ton: it looks like area->refresh() isn't getting called after file read.

* Scene and World AnimDatas are now included in animation editors

* Keyframes for integer-value settings now get the FCURVE_INT_VALUES flag set for their F-Curves, which restricts those curves to only having integer-values. F-Curve displays have been altered accordingly, but some editing tools may still need tweaks to work with this.

* Fixed notifiers for Insert Keyframe -> Active Keying Set.

Render back! And not only back, even full threaded now. :)
Current state is unfinished, but too much fun to not to
commit for review and test!

WARNING: because render is in a threaded job, it will
use data as can be edited in the UI. That'll crash in many
cases of course... the idea is to limit UI usage to viewing
stuff, especially for the Image Window to inspect layers
or zoom in/out.

What works now;
- F12 render (no anim)
- ESC from render
- ESC pushes back temporary Image Window
- Render to ImageWindow or full-screen.
- Executing composites, and edit composites after render.

Note that the UI is 100% responsive in a render, you can
switch screens, slide area dividers around, or even load
a new file during render. :) It's quite stable even.

I'll collect all crash reports especially to get a good
picture of where the protection is required at least.

Also added: XKey "Delete Objects", to get things crash...
unfortunately it didn't for me.

a34e2e1427 Animato/2.5 - Graph Editor (i.e. the new 'IPO Editor')
This commit brings back the drawing code for the 'Graph Editor'. I've decided to call it this, as currently it can show either F-Curves for Animation stored in Actions, or F-Curves for Drivers.

Currently, it shows all curves, since some of the necessary filtering code (i.e. for limiting curve visibility) hasn't been put in place yet. At least this serves as good proof that we can have F-Curves from multiple sources at least.

It should be noted that the code still has to be modified to work with some of the new Animato features, such as F-Curve Modifiers (cycles are an example of one of the features that use this). Also, a nicer way to set the colours of the curves needs to be investigated.

Notes:
* Fixed a few bugs in RNA User-Preferences wrapping

* The keyframe drawing uses the new-style drawing for handles from AnimSys2. There's a minor bug that sometimes occurs, where a distorted handle gets drawn at the origin of the grid on the first run. Hints anyone?

* Removed most of the old data from SpaceIpo struct, as the new code uses that. Maybe later, the directories/files at least should get renamed.

* Removed ancient hack for NVidia/TNT drivers. It is probably no longer needed, but could be restored if someone needs it.

de6d5b1540 Animato - Bugfixes + Nicer names in Action Editor
* Action Editor/Dopesheet now displays names retrieved from RNA in the form - "<Struct/OwnerName>.<PropertyName>.<ArrayIndex>"
i.e. "HeadBone.Location.X"
i.e. "Cube.Rotation.Y"
i.e. "Material.Diffuse Color.G"

For now, the first part of the name may be unclear as it is easy to confuse Material channels with Object ones if the material was called "Object1" or so (theoretrical example only). This will be explored further.

* Also, fixed crashes when loading some old files with 'Object' Action Channels in their Actions

2e7f3bb99c Animato Bugfixes:
* Fixed bug in with RNA-paths. String identifiers (i.e. some_collection["somekey"]) were not getting handled at all due to wrong indices it seems. I don't know of any other code using this, so hopefully there aren't any unintended bugs caused by this.
This means that bone animation now works again.

* Added a few more sanity checks to file-reading code, and heaps of extra prints everywhere else for debugging purposes (these will be removed in due course).

8c479bc933 Animato - Restoring most of Action Editor
* Streamlined the filtering code to remove a few redundant options, which required tweaking the code for most tools

* F-Curves are simply displayed using their full paths right now. This should eventually be the UI-string stored in RNA, but right now there are still a few missing things.

* There are a few tools which are not available yet which were available in 2.5 before Animato was added:
- Copy/Paste
- Rearrange channels

Also, the DopeSheet is not totally functional (in terms of displaying animation data for sub-object data yet). That will be added tomorrow.

* Added 'Action Group' pointer to F-Curves, as it will be handy for allowing Bone channels to still remain grouped as they were before with the Action Channels. However, reintroducing such a structure to the data-storage is not anticipated...

53ae509cc5 2.5 - AnimSys Data management stuff...
* Removed nAction struct. We'll be using good ol' bAction structs again, but putting new data in a different list. Apart from that, the data is similar enough to do so.

* Rearranged code in DNA_action_types.h while renaming the structs to avoid confusion over what is currently in use...

* Added freeing and AnimData execution loops for many other ID-types too. (NOTE: I've added AnimData in NodeTree struct too, but it's not clear to me where the relevant data-management calls should go in Nodes code).

* File writing code should now only write the new data to files

44e5b7788b 2.5: Blender "Animato" - New Animation System
Finally, here is the basic (functional) prototype of the new animation system which will allow for the infamous "everything is animatable", and which also addresses several of the more serious shortcomings of the old system. Unfortunately, this will break old animation files (especially right now, as I haven't written the version patching code yet), however, this is for the future.

Highlights of the new system:
* Scrapped IPO-Curves/IPO/(Action+Constraint-Channels)/Action system, and replaced it with F-Curve/Action.
- F-Curves (animators from other packages will feel at home with this name) replace IPO-Curves.
- The 'new' Actions, act as the containers for F-Curves, so that they can be reused. They are therefore more akin to the old 'IPO' blocks, except they do not have the blocktype restriction, so you can store materials/texture/geometry F-Curves in the same Action as Object transforms, etc.
* F-Curves use RNA-paths for Data Access, hence allowing "every" (where sensible/editable that is) user-accessible setting from RNA to be animated.
* Drivers are no longer mixed with Animation Data, so rigs will not be that easily broken and several dependency problems can be eliminated. (NOTE: drivers haven't been hooked up yet, but the code is in place)
* F-Curve modifier system allows useful 'large-scale' manipulation of F-Curve values, including (I've only included implemented ones here): envelope deform (similar to lattices to allow broad-scale reshaping of curves), curve generator (polynomial or py-expression), cycles (replacing the old cyclic extrapolation modes, giving more control over this). (NOTE: currently this cannot be tested, as there's not access to them, but the code is all in place)
* NLA system with 'tracks' (i.e. layers), and multiple strips per track. (NOTE: NLA system is not yet functional, as it's only partially coded still)

There are more nice things that I will be preparing some nice docs for soon, but for now, check for more details:
http://lists.blender.org/pipermail/bf-taskforce25/2009-January/000260.html

So, what currently works:
* I've implemented two basic operators for the 3D-view only to Insert and Delete Keyframes. These are tempolary ones only that will be replaced in due course with 'proper' code.
* Object Loc/Rot/Scale can be keyframed. Also, the colour of the 'active' material (Note: this should really be for nth material instead, but that doesn't work yet in RNA) can also be keyframed into the same datablock.
* Standard animation refresh (i.e. animation resulting from NLA and Action evaluation) is now done completely separate from drivers before anything else is done after a frame change. Drivers are handled after this in a separate pass, as dictated by depsgraph flags, etc.

Notes:
* Drivers haven't been hooked up yet
* Only objects and data directly linked to objects can be animated.
* Depsgraph will need further tweaks. Currently, I've only made sure that it will update some things in the most basic cases (i.e. frame change).
* Animation Editors are currently broken (in terms of editing stuff). This will be my next target (priority to get Dopesheet working first, then F-Curve editor - i.e. old IPO Editor)
* I've had to put in large chunks of XXX sandboxing for old animation system code all around the place. This will be cleaned up in due course, as some places need special review.
In particular, the particles and sequencer code have far too many manual calls to calculate + flush animation info, which is really bad (this is a 'please explain yourselves' call to Physics coders!).

df20a12728 2.5 - Animation Fixes + More Porting work in Action Editor
* Added crash fixes for loading old files with Actions/Armatures in them. Was caused by usage of some old globals still and the functions in question not performing NULL checks on the validity of the data they're given.

* Added back reorganise action channels tools (shift/ctrl-shif pageup/down) for Action Editor. These are only available in 'Action Mode' only.

* Tidied up Action Editor/Dopesheet tools code - removed various unused things, and also, added an API call in anim_deps.c to send the correct notifiers, since I anticipate that they're likely to require a few context checks which would be better to centralise than copy+paste everywhere.

Note to Ton: could you have a look at this notifier stuff here? I'm not sure which ones I should be sending...

c0621a1b7e 2.5 - Action Editor
* Fixed 'mute' icons for IPO-Curve channels. Added define for icon-button widths instead of magic numbers there too.

* Restored View All (HomeKey) and Auto-Set Preview Range (Ctrl-Alt-P). These tools both use the max extents of the keyframes to determine their (time)range.

c2de1373d1 2.5:
First commit for 2009!

Started of porting of Animation Editor Channels stuff.
This code will be used for both the Action and IPO editors, so any existing code involving this has now been moved to the Animation module.

* Added mouse-click operator for this channels view. Note: the selection stuff currently uses temporary toggling code only (i.e. it only toggles the selection of the channels in the editor, but does not update status of rest of database).
* Fixed bugs in View2D listview functions. Reduced the amount of code needed, and makes the code here simpler.
* Renamed action_edit_keyframes.c to action_edit.c, since channels are not handled there anymore.
* Dopesheet now refreshes correctly when object selection elsewhere changes.

97a82102d4 2.5 - Action Editor / Animation Stuff:
* Brought back clean (OKEY), sample (Shift-OKEY), and delete (XKEY/DELKEY) tools for the Action Editor.
Currently clean uses a predefined threshold (as a rna-prop, though it's still lacking the popup to set this when it is called)

* Added new file for 'destructive' keyframe operations/tools.

* Got keyframing.c compiling. Now, some of these tools need to be operatorised. Also, the API there might change when enough of the system is stable for RNA-IPO work to take place (so that it can be tested).

2335092456 UI: Panels
* API and usage is basically the same still.
* Panels were moved to region level. I first thought of keeping them at area
level, but having them at region level it's simpler to handle events and do
drawing, and also to integrate with view2d. They can still become area level
overlapping regions, if we make a floating (or docked) region that can
  contain panels.
* Added back a few panels from the scene buttons for testing.

Issues still:
* The view2d handling and alignment refresh of panels is not correct yet in the
  buttons window.
* I did not yet bring back the block handlers system. It was basically a system
that stored which panel was open and where the events for that panel would go.
Just a few functions, but not sure how it fits in 2.5.
* There was a case where dragging panels would not properly remove the window
level handler, but could not redo anymore even though I don't think I fixed
  it.
* Some text in the panels goes past the end of the button, that is due to the
checkmark button drawing, not related to this commit.

Other UI code changes:
* Renamed interface.h to interface_intern.h for consistency.
* Fixed some issues with freeing of blocks when they changed due to context.
* uiDrawBlock now takes a context pointer (mostly for block drawextra).
