Delete Branch "ZedDB/blender:mac_file_fix"
Deleting a branch is permanent. Although the deleted branch may continue to exist for a short time before it actually gets removed, it CANNOT be undone in most cases. Continue?
As in the Linux case, it seems like the atomic rename doesn't work on all file systems on Mac either.

This is quite clever. I wonder how you know it's this particular problem...
@ChengduLittleA I had this issue on linux computers as well. If you read the documentation for the mac function call, it also states that it will fail if the filesystem doesn't support atomic operations:

The logic seems correct, but think we can simplify the structure of code, minimizing cognitive complexity, and updating some comments. This is what I've ended up with by doing (hopefully) non-functional changes on top of this patch:
I think having linear blocks of code is easier to follow.
