Seems like this issue still persists in Blender 4.1.1.
Yes, really hope it won't be another 2 years before we see this added to Blender 😅
@Regnas looks like both time and the fact that the original plan intended to do it wasn't the best solution

But still, it seems to be very tough tho. Even the person that worked exclusively in the outliner for the summer of code wasn't able to do it.

Yes this is incredibly frustrating, was hoping for a fix in 3.5, but I can see now that it didn't happen 😅
