Blender stopped starting

At risk of sounding like tech support, have you rebooted since?

Occasionally Blender will crash on my A770 in a way where I can't launch blender again without restarting the PC. I don't know…

Sculpting a mesh from Blender 3.6 causes corruption

Update: "Clear Sculpt Mask Data" under Geometry Data resolves the issue. So does clearing the mask.

As for how the mask got so messed up, no idea--I don't use it very often...

Actually, I suggest we just revert that commit in 82ca3d3604 or consider this a known issue in 3.6. "Add rest position" is quite a new feature that is only really helpful for the new hair system…

Cycles Embree HWRT shading differences

I've added a .blend file to reproduce. I narrowed it down to a simple shader with an alpha image controlling a Mix node between a Principled BSDF and a Transparent BSDF.

Confirmed fixed. Systems made with 3.5 beta before 4f18022f80 will need to make a new fur system. The one in 3.5.1 behaves properly. Thanks.
