UI: support searching in menus

Blender isn't getting more and more nodebased, it always has been, as always nodes represents different local workflows from the very beginning. Also not sure how adding nodes method is related…

Making videos is a nice explicit tool. For example we use it during workflow design process for practical analysis - detecting flaws and solutions comparisons.

UI: support searching in menus

In my opinion such a concept has flaws in too longer string input or much more scrolling to reach the desired result in comparison to underscores. That was the reason of a PGP approach which…

Sculpt/Painting Modes: Revamp Keymap

I agree about Alt+A, but ctrl+I seems to be ok to keep.

Industry Compatible Keymap - Consistency and Updates

Interesting, that there are planned transform QWER hotkeys for IC, but not for default GEARS.

Sculpt/Painting Modes: Revamp Keymap

This is based on the Mask Pie Menu in mesh sculpt mode. THis will help to

  • free up all other selection shortcuts

A question - what kind of a shorcuts are supposed to be freed up?…

Keymap: improve consistency for paint modes

Generally looks good. Logically I find Alt-1 and Alt-2 a bit odd/awkward . Number keys typically set a slot (in general but also in Blender), might keys be used that are more often used to…

UI: support searching in menus

My main goal is to use it for the node add menu. Staying only at the top level would make using the search way too slow.

Sure, but doesn't it already have some? ![изображение](/at…

"Keymap" seems to be a bette term than "Shortcuts", since it is similar to preferences naming

"New material" tooltip should be "Copy current material"

I think that "duplicate" is a better term than "copy", which is usually related to clipboard.

Improve UV packing to pack more tightly (not just considering bounding boxes)

I think all of it worths at least mentioning and taking into account during long-term UV development, since there are indeed lots of aspects that forms workflow-dependent demands picture.

Outliner: Double click on icon to select contents/hierachy

We usually give a massive tests to interactions behaviour in order to make sure, it is hard to say on a fly.

Outliner: Double click on icon to select contents/hierachy

Interesting video. Not sure about Shift+doubleclick solution. The problem is that UX-wise doubleclicks misclicking are usually hard to distinguish in cases when the result is not obvious (for…

Transform: Use alternative hotkeys for Zoom and Rotate

I agree that Alt solution is a better choice for 2.7 keymap since that navigation style was designed to bring the least amount of interference.

Animation: Remove collection hotkeys from pose mode

@dr.sybren It is not specifically about 2.8, it is about development style in general, when one developer corrupts some functionality and the other cuts it out as corrupted instead of fixing.

@brecht in theory yes, but you hardly ever know the order the collections are in the scene, so you need to check in the outliner anyway at which point it's easier to click on the eye icon …

As far as I know, the community has not moved beyond the IsKeyFree addon functionality.
