Shade Smooth/Auto Smooth/Flat is disabled for non-editable liboverride objects, but not linked objects

Just to be clear, I'm not saying that having those options disabled is a bug, I'm saying in both cases, they should probably be disabled.

Pardon my 2 cents but could this be a flaw with the Localize All option that is enabled by default when appending? Theoretically this should remove all linked references in the first place, correct?
