Ok it is actually shade rather than shadow. these 2 flat geo is exactly same except for rim solidify. it is set smooth shading. I expect no shade with rim as it is flat but you see shade. …

1 On this test, I made a cube and Alt+D to instanced few cubes,

2 then Ctl+A to make real object from " Make Instance Real"

3 then select those real objects except for…

mix color node got worse, I used to able swap A and B by changing one of them but now it will disconnect other if do same thing
