Hard to say, I don't know the exact policy for such cases. The situation is a bit similar like with the Split Edges node some months ago. The bug was fixed in the LTS release, but people relied on things that were not guaranteed. Better ask @ThomasDinges or so.
Considering that 3.6 is ~8 months old already, I'd not change behavior that people may already rely on in their projects. I leave this decision to you two though.
This would also fix #114173. Not 100% sure which situations you would want the old behavior, but if people are already thinking about this, it might be better not not change this in LTS then.
