Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.6.0 NVIDIA 546.01
Blender Version
Broken: version: 4.1.0 Alpha, branch: main, commit date: 2023-11-03 17:00, hash:
9b0ea21a5bbc
This happens in 3.6.4. and 3.6.5 versions too
Short description of error
Blender closes without errors while rendering the animation. This happens if you enable the Denoise option in the render parameters and select OptiX.
Blender closes randomly, it can close on frame 5 or 201 or 98 or any other, I haven’t found what it depends on. I tried closing all background applications, reinstalling the video card driver with DDU. if I choose OpenImageDenoise the animation is rendered without errors.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
To reproduce the error, start rendering the animation in the attached file. Rendering using CUDA without CPU.
or any animation in Cycles with Denoise option enabled in the render parameters and select OptiX.
Hi, thanks for the report. Looks similar to #114123 (crashes in
nvcuda64.dll
)I'll close this as duplicate
I can confirm the crash with newer NVIDIA drivers in 4.1
Marking as High since there's been so many reports filed in close proximity to each other and it would be good to have visibility on.
Hello!
Same problem here, in both 3.6 and 4.0, latest NVIDIA drivers on RTX4090.
Switching from any Viewport shading to Cycles with Optix has a low chance to crash blender.
It's been a few months now.
@pmoursnv it's unclear if this is a bug in Blender or in the NVIDIA driver. But it seems to happen only with newer driver version. Can you investigate?
See #114468.
I'm getting this on a simple rendering of a few cubes, Blender 4.0.2, RTX 4080, Windows 11, NVIDIA driver 546.17 when rendering on my render farm via the command line with Flamenco (https://flamenco.blender.org/). Seems to only occur when the Render > Denoise > Optix denoiser is set to Albedo and Normal and to not occur for just Albedo, for me.
Fixed with the 546.33 driver released today.
